If God hates idols, then of course he hates idolatry, the worship of false gods. In Jeremiah he explains that punishment has come upon his people “because of the evil that they committed, provoking me to anger, in that they went to make offerings and serve other gods that they knew not, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.”. There are some things I hate Sin and Satan. Injustice. There are some things that God hates First, the word for hate literally means to hate in a personal sense. Second, he tells us that these are detestable to God. Meaning that they are disgusting to God. This is the same word that the scriptures uses to refer to how God feels about idolatry.

The self-hater must live before God’s eyes, led by God’s voice, measured by God’s standard, and delivered by God’s Savior. So there is a freedom in God’s standards. Sure, and among the standards is a proper view of who you are: the Ten Commandments — you might say the bones of the standards. God gives us a definition of ourselves. God is love. But God hates. This isn’t the only time the psalmist says this. Psalm states, “The Lord tests the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.” The God of love has the capacity to hate and remain perfect in all His attributes. God hates, but who does He hate?

God cannot hate His own creation because He created it good, as we see in the book of Genesis. God made everything. good, good, good, good, good, good, and very good when he gets to the final day of the creation. So God loves everything that exists inasmuch as it exists. However, and I think Sandra got this right, when we say God hates sin. What does God think of this? Proverbs includes on the list of things that God hates, “a false witness who utters lies.” Why does God hate lying? And why does he not only hate lying, but liars as well? The Bible provides many reasons. Here are twelve of them. 1. God loves truthful speech and truth-tellers.

Psalm says, “The arrogant cannot stand in. If anyone says, "I love God," and yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

God is a tender, compassionate God who is rich in mercy and grace, but He is also a God of justice—One who hates and abhors sin in every form. Preachers often seem to fail in reminding people that while our God is essentially a God of love, He also has the capacity to hate.

The sermon developed from this text should be directed to those who moved outside of God’s will, and now are or should be penitently seeking to return to God’s will for their lives.

In Proverbs 6, God lists seven things that He "hates," not that he dislikes. Now, I know that hate is a strong word. But God used it to illustrate the terrible things that can happen when His rules are not followed.

And God is specific for a reason. To use a weaker word would mean that God is somehow tolerable of disobedience. Third, Malachi begins his book on the fact that God loves Israel. And fourth, intermarriage with pagans profaned the holy seed (Ezra ; Jer.
